Veneers (Facings)

Veneers are used to cover the fronts of teeth to  replace decayed or discoloured enamel and achieve a beautiful smile. The teeth usually need some preparation so it is a permanent procedure.

There are two types:

Composite Resin
These veneers are done in one appointment in the dental chair. The tooth is prepared and then layers of resin are applied. Very good results can be achieved. Some care is necessary to prevent chipping or breaking. Repairs are possible.

Porcelain
These veneers are made of porcelain by the laboratory. Two appointments are required. The first appointment involves preparation of the tooth surface and then taking a mould.

The second appointment involves  very careful cementation of the veneer. This type of veneer is more permanent, stronger, can achieve very good aesthetics. They are more expensive and not as  easy to repair.
