Cleaning and Topical Fluoride
Cleaning of teeth is necessary to remove plaque which is the cause of dental decay and gum disease, and to remove calculus, the hard deposit which cannot be brushed off. Calculus harbours the germs that cause gum disease (periodontal disease)

- Powder jets (Prophy Jet)
- Polishing with paste
It may require more than one appointment, and some patients may require some local anaesthesia. Some patients may have 'happy gas' (nitrous oxide) to make the appointment more comfortable.
